1. Organisation, Functions and Duties:
The Mizoram State Sports Council is an autonomous body created and funded by the State
Government. It was established in 1976 and became an autonomous body having constitutional powers to the extend as empowered by the provisions of its own Act of 2002. The main objective of Mizoram State Sports Council is to promote all round development of sports in the State including
development of sports infrastructure as well as to inculcate discipline, to build character, to promote team spirit and patriotism through sports and to foster a spirit of comradeship between the different Sports Associations.
A : The General Body of Mizoram State Sports Council consist of the following members:
OFFICE BEARERS :
President - Minister i/c Sports & Youth Services Department as ex-fficio President.
Vice President - To be elected by the members from amongst themselves
Secretary - To be appointed by the Government.
Joint Secretary - To be elected by the members from amongst themselves
Financial Secretary - To be appointed by the Government.
Members - 1) Commissioner/Secretary, Government of Mizoram, Sports & Youth Services Department.
2) Joint Secretary, Government of Mizoram, Sports & Youth Services Department.
3) Director, Sports & Youth Services Department.
4) Joint Director, Sports & Youth Services Department.
5) One member each nominated by the recognized Sports Association to represent such State level Association.
6) The State Government shall have the right to nominate two members as official nominees from different Departments or Semi-Government organisation.
7) The State Government shall have the right to nominate three persons as non-official nominees. Such non-official nominees may be drawn from outstanding sportsmen or journalist or leading citizens or pensioners or women or university teachers.
B : The Executive Committee of the Mizoram State Sports Council consist of the following members.
(1) Office Bearers of the Mizoram State Sports Council
(2) Secretary, Government of Mizoram, Sports & Youth Services Department.
(3) Joint Secretary, Govt.of Mizoram Sports & Youth services Department.
(4) Director, Sports & Youth Services Department.
(5) Joint Director, Sports & Youth Services Department.
(6) Seven members of the Council representing recognized Associations to be nominated by the Council. Such seven members will be included by annual rotation in an alphabetical order of the Association duly represented by them.
2. Powers and Duties of the Officers and Employees:
A : The Mizoram State Sports Council office is headed by the Secretary who is also the Chief Executive Officer. The Council has a total strength of 50 (fifty) employees which is divided into four sections as follows :
(1) Administrative Section.
(2) Promotional Section
(3) Technical Section
(4) Account Section.
The name and total numbers of posts are as indicated below :-

B : (1) Administrative Section :
The administrative section of the Council mainly deals with office administration and establishment of the Council relating to its employees and welfare which
includes making of Rules and Regulations of the Council as well as District Sports
Committees. The administrative section is headed by the Administrative Officer.
(2) Promotional Section :
The Promotional Section is headed by the Sports Promotion Officer mainly deals with all the sports promotional programmes of Mizoram State Sports Council under the following heads :-
(a) Assistance to State Level Sports Association:
The Mizoram State Sports Council through the State Government provides fund to all the recognised State Level Sports Associations to enable them to implement their respective programmes like organizing tournaments inside the State, participation in National and International level competitions as well as conducting of various Coaching and Training programmes.
